Lake Report 3/15/23 - Lee Huffman

Lee Huffman

I’ve been fishing wylie a lot and, yet the dogwoods are blooming and the surface temp made the 60’s before the cold snap, the main lake water temp is still mid 50’s. Fishing for mainly crappie and perch lately and it has been great! Some days are more of a tight line bite; some days the trolling bite seems to work better. Most days I’m pulling 4 down rods and 4 longline rods. Down rods are 1/2 ounce Carolina rig. The long line rods are all 1/16 ounce jig heads - some are normal some have spinners. Neither have produced any better than the other. Fish are mainly in the mid-section of the creeks waiting on everything to get right to move to the banks to spawn.

Catfishing has been super hit-and-miss. With not much consistent bite, both perch and Shad have got me bites,

I’ve caught fish from 7-34 feet.

It’s all a waiting game and we are all waiting on the water to warm just a little bit. Soon it will be the perfect time of year!
